A Walk Through Center Grove--
"What Is the Grove Becoming?" May 5, 2018.
Links to Documents and Resources

This page contains links to documents and resources that were part of our walk through Center Grove on Saturday May 5, 2018 to honor the memory of Jane Jacobs, author of The Death and Life of Great American Cities. Thanks to all who joined us.

Why did Bike Coconut Grove organize a walking tour? The answer is simple: Calmer, safer streets aren't just better for bicycling. They're better for walking, too. They're better for everyone.

Many thanks to our hosts for the walk (click on links for more information):

Some interesting additional reading:

  • A scan of Jane Jacobs' book The Death and Life of Great American Cities. This was available for downloading from the internet.
  • "Buildings and Fantasies," article by Grove 2030 founder Dave Villano, originally published in the Biscayne Times. Used with the author's permission.
  • The Corner at the Grove. This flyer shows how the "mystery building" at the corner of Grand Ave. and MacFarlane Rd. will look after reconstruction and remodeling. Work is scheduled to begin in early summer 2018. The property is owned by  L3 Capital, based in Chicago. Their office is in the Wrigley Building, constructed in 1921-24--these people have taste.
